Article on Keibu Kan course Sat 13 to Sun 14 Feb 10

The course was organised and hosted by Sensei Harrison in Yateley Manor School sports hall. The day was split into various times for grades, finished off with a Grading .

My report is on the Adult sessions. We were split into 2 teams and did jiyu kumite on a matted area, only using the technique as stated by Sensei, this went on for some time varying attacks, blocks, evation, counter attacks.

Sensei Amanda then took the younger students through Keage and Kekomi kicks, I saw nothing of this as explained next.

While that was going on we (Adults) then had a warm up led by Phil Timms 3 rd Dan, with a partner we went onto sliding in close up counter attacks taking elements shown from Kata which included takedowns, finish, against all punches and kicks. We were allowed to experiment with what would flow after a takedown, see what openings occurred, what body parts were obstructing a final technique and come up with something to over come the issue.

I was partnered up with BHD who seemed to enjoy what we were doing, as did I. It was hot in the Dojo so sweat started to leak everywhere, it did not stop us from working though. Sensei has photo,s on Facebook.

The lessons came to a halt and set up for grading, Sensei conducting Dan gradings, Senseis Paul and Phil conducting kyu gradings at the other end of the dojo.

The grading seemed to come and go very quickly, all four students taking varying level of Dan grade passed, we did not know this as we had to wait for the kyu grades to finish and results ratified.

Sensei called us all together and delivered the grading results, all students that graded from RSKC passed, so well done, congratulations to other students that passed also.

I would like to thank Sensei Harrison for the course, it was enjoyable.

Thanks to the RSKC students that attended.
